Pertemuan Pemuja Setan Terbesar Digelar di Amerika
MUSTANIR.net – Komunitas pemuja setan akan menggelar pertemuan di Boston, Massachusetts, Amerika Serikat (AS) yang diklaim terbesar dalam sejarah. Pertemuan yang disebut SatanCon 2023 itu akan diselenggarakan secara tatap muka pada 28 hingga 30 April 2023.
Acara itu diselenggarakan dalam rangka memperingati 10 tahun The Satanic Temple (TST). Melalui situs resminya, TST menyatakan bahwa acara konferensi pemuja setan itu didedikasikan untuk Walikota Boston, Michelle Wu atas tindakan yang dinilai melanggar hukum karena menjauhkan TST dari ruang publik.
Melansir dari media lokal, The Boston Globe, kantor pers Walikota Boston menegaskan bahwa acara tersebut tidak disponsori oleh pemerintah.
Di sisi lain, salah satu pendiri TST, Lucien Greaves menilai bahwa pemerintah Boston bertindak diskriminatif terhadap pemuja setan karena menolak permintaan doa mereka di Dewan Kota Boston.
“Mereka harus tetap menghormati pluralisme dan tetap menghormati kebebasan beragama masyarakat dan mengakui bahwa tidak ada lembaga pemerintah yang berhak membatasi kapasitas sipil dari satu sudut pandang atas yang lain,” kata Lucien.
Kuil Setan itu mengadakan konferensi nasional pertamanya tahun lalu dengan menghadirkan berbagai panel, termasuk komunitas satanis dan kulit hitam, masyarakat adat, dan orang kulit berwarna (Black, Indigenous, People of Color/BIPOC) serta panel tentang aborsi sebagai hak agama.
Penjualan tiket acara perdana itu terjual habis, sehingga TST berencana menjadikan konferensi itu sebagai acara tahunan.
Kelompok itu bersikeras tidak benar-benar percaya pada iblis, dan misi resminya adalah mendorong kebajikan dan empati di antara semua orang, menolak otoritas tirani, serta mengadvokasi akal sehat dan keadilan praktis.
Pengumuman acara konferensi pemuja setan tahun 2023 itu ditentang sejumlah pihak. Pendeta utama Injili dari Tennessee, AS, Greg Locke melalui media sosial Twitter mengatakan bahwa dirinya akan mengadakan pertemuan yang memprotes SatanCon 2023.
“Bersiaplah teman-teman, saya mengadakan pertemuan besar-besaran dan layanan pembebasan pada tanggal 28 April untuk memprotes agenda jahat dan menghujat ini,” kata Greg, 31 Desember 2022.
