Jenderal Soedirman Marah Soekarno tak Mau Ikut Berperang
MUSTANIR.net – Saat Agresi Militer Belanda, Jenderal Soedirman menginginkan perang total dan meminta Soekarno ikut bergerilya. Tetapi Soekarno mengingkari janjinya untuk ikut berperang bersama Soedirman dan memilih menjadi tawanan Belanda.
Bersahabat tapi sempat bertengkar. Presiden Soekarno dan Panglima Besar Jenderal Soedirman pernah bersitegang saat Agresi Militer II Belanda berhasil menduduki Yogyakarta.
Soekarno ditahan dan memilih berunding dengan Belanda, tapi Jenderal Soedirman pantang mengikuti kemauan penjajah. Jenderal Soedirman mengajak Soekarno bergerilya, ikut berperang. Namun Soekarno menolak.
Sebelum pasukan payung militer Belanda mendarat dan menguasai bandara Maguwo, Jenderal Soedirman mendatangi Soekarno. “Saya minta dengan sangat agar Bung Karno turut menyingkir. Rencana saya akan meninggalkan kota ini dan masuk hutan. Bung, pergilah bersama saya,” kata Soedirman memohon.
Pagi itu Soekarno sedang berpakaian. “Engkau seorang prajurit. Tempatmu di medan pertempuran dengan anak buahmu. Dan tempatmu bukan pelarian untukku. Aku harus tinggal di sini sehingga memungkinkan aku untuk berunding dan memimpin rakyat kita semua,” kata Sukarno dalam autobiografi Penyambung Lidah Rakyat (2007).
Jenderal Soedirman kembali bertanya apakah ada perintah sebelum pergi bergerilya. “Apakah ada instruksi terakhir sebelum saya berangkat?” tanya Soedirman.
“Jangan adakan pertempuran di jalanan dalam kota. Kita tidak mungkin menang. Tetapi pindahkanlah tentaramu ke luar kota, Dirman. Dan berjuanglah sampai mati. Aku perintahkan kepadamu untuk menyebar tentara ke desa-desa.”
Jenderal Soedirman kecewa dengan keputusan Soekarno yang memilih bertahan di Ibu Kota ketimbang ikut perang bergerilya bersama tentara. Ada yang beranggapan jika Soekarno ikut bergerilya akan menyusahkan pasukan dan cepat atau lambat akan tertangkap. Hingga akhirnya Soekarno memilih ditawan pada 19 Desember 1948.
“Soekarno yang berjanji memimpin gerilya kalau Yogyakarta diserang akhirnya memilih menyerah kepada Belanda,” tulis Salim Said dalam Gestapu 65: PKI, Aidit, Soekarno dan Soeharto (2015).
Dalam autobiografinya, Soeharto menjelaskan perihal situasi genting pada 1949 tersebut. Ia menyebut memberi kesempatan kepada pemerintah di Kota Yogyakarta supaya mengungsi dan melakukan bumi hangus. “Tetapi ternyata yang mau mengungsi adalah Pak Dirman dalam keadaan sakit. Bung Karno dan Bung Hatta memutuskan untuk tinggal di tempat. Nyatanya mereka ditawan Belanda.”
Kekecewaan tentara kepada Soekarno juga diungkapkan AH Nasution. “Memang cukup mengecewakan berita-berita yang masuk ke daerah gerilya, terutama tentang kejadian di Istana dan lain-lain di tempat resmi. Pembesar Republik yang tertinggi keluar dengan pembawa bendera putih dan kemudian ditawan Belanda. Sukarno minta dijamin keselamatan dirinya, anggota-anggota kabinet, dan keluarganya, serta pembantu-pembantunya, dan berjanji tidak akan meninggalkan Istana.”
Soedirman Ingin Perang Total
Jenderal Soedirman saat itu menginginkan tentara Indonesia bersama rakyat perang total melawan Agresi Militer Belanda. Namun, Soekarno memilih tertangkap tanpa perlawanan yang diduga untuk mendapatkan perhatian dari dunia internasional.
Seperti diulas di atas, Soekarno berpikir akan sia-sia ikut perang gerilya kalau toh akhirnya tertangkap. Karena itu, Soekarno memerintahkan Letkol Soeharto menjemput Jenderal Soedirman di hutan.
Jenderal Soedirman yang marah tentu enggan menuruti perintah. Di perang gerilya Jenderal Soedirman bersama pasukannya sudah habis-habisan, hingga ditandu ketika paru-parunya mati sebelah.
Namun, jiwa prajurit Jenderal Soedirman memaksanya pulang. Dia menuruti perintah kembali ke Ibu Kota.
Saat itulah ada momen unik saat Soekarno memeluk Jenderal Soedirman. Frans Mendur, ahli potret dari IPPHOS dan juru foto kesayangan Soekarno diperintahkan mengabadikan pertemuan itu. Jenderal Soedirman datang ke Gedung Agung, tempat tinggal Soekarno.
Namun, Jenderal Soedirman yang masih marah hanya diam saja. Soekarno pun berinisiatif mencairkan suasana yang membeku tersebut. Ia menghampiri Soedirman lalu memeluknya.
Namun, Soekarno merasa pelukannya dengan Jenderal Soedirman terkesan kaku, sehingga foto berpelukan itu harus diulang. Maklum, Jenderal Soedirman masih marah kala itu.
Frans Mendur tidak mendapatkan gambar yang bagus saat pelukan pertama. “Ya sudah diulangi lagi adegan zoetnjes-nya,” kata Soekarno.
Soekarno lalu meminta Soedirman mendekat. “Ayo supaya lebih dramatik,” kata Soekarno. Soedirman menurut, dan jadilah gambar beku pelukan itu menjadi foto paling terkenal sebagai “foto penutup perang Revolusi 1945-1949”. []
