Penyerbuan Masjid al-Haram 40 Tahun Lalu

MUSTANIR.COM, RIYADH — Sudah 40 tahun sejak Arab Saudi pertama kali mengalami serangan teror. Serangan yang mengejutkan semua Muslim di seluruh dunia karena terjadi di tempat paling suci bagi Muslim.

Dilansir di Arab News pada Rabu (12/9), munculnya ekstremisme di Kerajaan Arab Saudi (KSA) dimulai pada 1 Muharam 1400 H atau 20 November 1979. Sebuah kelompok menyimpang menyerbu Masjid Suci di Makkah. Insiden itu berlangsung selama dua pekan. Lebih dari 100 nyawa meninggal.

Saat itu, bertepatan dengan hari pertama di bulan pertama kalender Islam. Ratusan jamaah sedang mengitari Ka’bah. Ada yang bersiap melakukan shalat subuh.

Waktu menunjukkan hampir pukul 05.25 waktu setempat. Tiba-tiba, jamaah mendengar suara peluru. Suara yang mengubah tempat paling damai menjadi panggung para pembunuh. Nahas, serangan itu langsung menyasar orang-orang sipil dan keamanan.

Putra Mahkota Mohammed bin Salman mengatakan ekstremisme dimulai setelah 1979. Dia berjanji mengubah Saudi menjadi negara moderat.

“Kami kembali pada jati diri sebelumnya, sebuah negara Islam moderat yang terbuka untuk semua agama dan dunia,” kata dia.

Ia memastikan Saudi tidak ingin menghabiskan waktu 30 tahun mendatang dengan hal yang berhubungan dengan ide-ide merusak. Ia menegaskan Saudi berkomitmen memberantas ekstremisme.

Saat serangan terjadi, pemerintah mengirim peringatan melalui megafon pada pelaku. Mereka mengingatkan tindakan yang dilakukan para penyerang, menyimpang dari ajaran Islam.

“Barangsiapa yang berniat menyimpang di Masjid Suci, dalam agama, atau melakukan kesalahan, kami akan membuat mereka merasakan hukuman menyakitkan,” kata otoritas Saudi saat itu.

Semua seruan yang disuarakan KSA, tidak membuahkan hasil. Malah, dari menara masjid suci yang tinggi, para penembak jitu menembaki orang-orang di luar Masjid al-Haram.

Saat itu, Raja Khaled mengumpulkan ulama senior mendiskusikan masalah itu. Mereka sepakat, agresor dari sudut pandang Islam dianggap murtad. Sebab, seorang Muslim tidak pernah membunuh orang yang tidak bersalah. Terlebih melakukan serangan di dalam masjid suci, itu adalah hal yang lebih mengerikan.

Para ulama mengeluarkan fatwa untuk membunuh penyerang sesuai instruksi Syariah Islam. Raja Khaled memerintahkan pasukan menangkap penyerang, jika memungkinkan.

Seorang saksi, Hizam Al-Mastouri (75 tahun) mengatakan dirinya adalah seorang prajurit yang berpartisipasi dalam operasi melawan para penyerang itu. “Kami memasuki Masjid al-Haram ketika keluar dari kendaraan militer di wilayah Masa’a, dekat Gunung Al-Marwa. Serangan tembak mengarah dari segala penjuru. Mereka bisa melihat kami, sementara kami tidak dapat melihat mereka. Kemudian, pimpinan mengubah strategi sesuai dengan situasi,” kata Al-Mastouri.

Mantan pemimpin redaksi Arab News, Khaled Almaeena mengisahkan, pagi itu dirinya hendak mengunjungi kerabatnya di Makkah. Dia melihat kerumunan orang berkumpul, dan ada banyak keributan.

“Desas-desus mengatakan Ka’bah disita orang asing. Ada yang menceritakan kisah yang berbeda. Saya kembali ke Jeddah dan menonton saluran Saudi Television, satu-satunya yang dapat kami lihat pada masa itu,” ujar Almaeena.

Pada pagi keempat, kelima, dan keenam pascaserangan, dia menuju Makkah. Dia memarkirkan mobil cukup jauh, sembari mengamati Masjid Suci. “Itu adalah pemandangan yang menyedihkan melihat tempat suci kosong. Tidak ada pengunjung. Bahkan, ada tembakan dari menara-menara. Saya bisa melihat kepulan asap dari menara-menara. Ada bau mesiu dan asap,” kisahnya.

Almaeena mengatakan helikopter sesekali melintas di langit. Ia mengatakan serangan di Masjid al-Haram itu mengejutkan banyak orang. Butuh waktu bagi Saudi, termasuk pasukan keamanan untuk mengetahui situasi yang mengkhawatirkan itu. Hari-hari berlalu tanpa ada kumandang azan.

Mantan kepala pasukan keamanan khusus, Mayor Jenderal Mohammed Al-Nufaie menceritakan, Pangeran Saud Al-Faisal pernah menanyakan kepada otak penyerangan, Juhaiman Al-Otaibi alasan tindakannya. Kemudian, Juhaiman menjawab, “Itu setan”.

”Sebanyak 117 anggota kelompok bersenjata yang dipimpin Juhaiman Al-Otaibi terbunuh dalam pertemuan itu. Sebanyak 69 lainnya dieksekusi kurang dari sebulan. Kemudian, sebanyak 19 lainnya menerima hukuman penjara.
